You've heard the saying, "Speak the truth, even if your voice shakes." It's so true and sometimes not easy. Everything will shake, your thoughts, your body, the people around you. You might question yourself a million times over. Did it matter? Does it matter? I have had two very important events in my life where speaking up and not worrying about the outcome for myself was necessary. One of the hardest things I had to do was speak up. Feeling alone and questioning myself. But in those times, it didn't matter if I was alone in it. It's like when you know, you know. Every part of your being knows you have to speak up. Either to help those that can't help themselves or those that won't and are afraid to speak up. We never like to say the things we need to say sometimes. And if it's tugging at your heart, then know you have a conscience and you care and not just flying off the handle. Trust your gut more. That is what I am understanding more and more each day. It does not mean that when you do speak up that everything will be right in the world, it might be tough going but it doesn't make it any less important. You know right from wrong, and people might try and confuse you to doubt yourself when the issue doesn't want to be seen. Of course, evaluate, think about it, listen to your heart, pray on it, look at the actions and words, look at your own heart to make sure it's coming from the utmost care. If you can live with yourself no matter the outcome and it matters, then help those that can't help themselves. Because IT MATTERS. We need each other. Have the courage to speak up, move through the fear and have faith that God will carry you through. You might say it all wrong and when you are learning to lean into speaking up for yourself or others, give yourself some grace because you will learn how to better lean into your words and how to articulate them in those hard times. It builds you; it moves you to grow and change where needed. There is absolutely something to learn in every single thing we go through if we just ask ourselves what is it? How can I grow from this? Look at yourself and not just point a finger. But have the courage to move through the fear and have faith that God will guide you.
